roku tv wont connect

I have a Insigina roku tv, it came from best buys.. It worked great till 2 weeks ago. I have had nothing but issues since then. It wont connect to the network no matter what I do.. my router/wifi modem etc is sitting right next to the tv., so I know its not distance, as for if the router/wifi is working im on the computer now.. so everything is okay but the roku. I read about some update messing up the TV I do remember the Tv updating. what Can I do about this? Best buys says its your issues not theirs. Is there any help for this? my other roku device works fine it seems its a small box but the tv update screwed it all up.

Re: roku tv wont connect

It's possible your router has changed the WiFi channel to one unsupported by Roku devices. Most likely your TV only supports 2.4 GHz, so the channel needs to be between 1 and 11. If it's auto-changed itself to 12, 13 or 14, your Roku won't see it.

Even if it's on 1-11, perhaps some new interference is causing a problem. The three best channels to use are 1, 6 or 11. These are the only three that don't overlap with each other.

Some routers provided by your Internet provider are set to turn off the 2.4 GHz radio and only use 5 GHz. If your TV doesn't support 5 GHz, then again it cannot be seen by your Roku. And even if your TV supports 5 GHz, there's a lot of unsupported channels in that band as well. For 5 GHz, the channel has to be below 49 or above 148. The channels in between are labeled DFS, and aren't supposed to be used in many countries. So Roku simply doesn't support them at all.

How do you change your WiFi channel? Without knowing the make/model of your router, I really can't say. It's going to be somewhere in the WiFi radio settings.

Re: roku tv wont connect

Greetings I have tried everything, but this wont connect to the wifi or if it does its like it wipes the connection information out .. I have a roku premiere plus in my living room it works fine on wifi so It has to be the tv itself.

Re: roku tv wont connect

This sounds then like a hardware issue with the TV. Insignia is the manufacturer, and should honor any warranty on it. Since Insignia is a Best Buy house brand, they should be willing to work it out for you.

I had a defective Insignia TV right out of the box, and exchanged it with a new one. The replacement has worked fine for close to 5 years. I don't have anything bad to say about Insignia, so hopefully they will take care of it for you.

Greetings I have tried everything...

Have you tried....

1. Restarting both your router (full reboot) and your RokuTV. (Settings...System..Power..System Restart)

2. Resetting your Roku Connection (Settings..System..Advanced System Settings..Network Connection Reset...Reset Connection)

3. Factory Reset (Settings..System..Advanced System Settings...Factory Reset) or by Hard Reset using the pinhole on left side of TV near the USB port and press/hold 30sec+ until screen reboots to loading screen.

4. Verified the settings @atc98092 pointed out regarding your router settings at both your 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands under your Wireless Settings.  Chances are your Insignia can connect to both bands, but it should at least connect to the 2.4 if your Premiere can.

My Insignia can be a little squirrely at times, but usually nothing a System Restart can't fix.  Post back if any of the above helps or not.
