hotel does not broadcast "security" w/SSID; but does have a login page.
Staying at hotel that has a login page but does not broadcast security requirement with SSID. Because of this Roku does not go into hotel/dorm login mode. The login page consists of a button/link "accept terms, take me to internet". ISP/network provider is DeepBlue/Comcast. Their help line does not answer calls and disconnects caller at 3:10sec. so they are not help....
How can I force a "hotel/dorm login connection" to my Roku Ultra ?
Re: hotel does not broadcast "security" w/SSID; but does have a login page.
Unfortunately, there's no way to force Hotel mode. But it's not a security requirement that triggers hotel mode. It's a connection to WiFi that doesn't offer access to the Internet that triggers it. If you can connect to the hotel WiFi successfully, but not actually reach the Internet, that's what opens the hotel/dorm message box.
Are you saying the hotel WiFi doesn't broadcast its SSID? I've never seen any WiFi access point not broadcast what sort of security is required to connect.
I do see my Roku players broadcasting its own SSID, but if you don't know the passcode to connect (it's shown only in hotel/dorm mode) that's not going to help. Your only option in such a case would likely be a travel router that can connect to the hotel's WiFi and bridge the connection. You can use a phone/tablet/computer to log into the hotel's network, and then anything else that connects to the travel router would have Internet access. I carry one in my suitcase, and while it doesn't always work with the hotel setup it has been successful on occasion.
