I have a dual band router. The 2.4 ghz and the 5.0 ghz have different names. I have a laptop running win 10 with only 2.4ghz. I have a roku ultra -dual band. I have a motorloa cell phone which only has 2.4ghz. I have the roku app on it.
I can use the remote in the roku app on my phone to control my roku ultra regardless of whether the roku is set to 2.4 or 5.0. I thought the roku would have to be set to the same band as my phone in order to use the roku app but that does not seem to be the case.
When I go to Connect to a Wireless Display on my laptop, it can only see my Ultra if it is connected to the 2.4 Ghz band. This is to set up screen mirroring. So if i have my ultra set to 5.0 ghz and want to screen mirror to it, I have to switch it to the 2.4 band.
Can anyone explain this. The roku app on my 2.4ghz phone will connect to roku regardless if the roku is set to 2.4 or 5.0 But when trying to set up screen mirroring on win10 laptop it can only see roku when it is set to 2.4.
