Re: Roku won’t connect to WiFi but all other devices in house work!

@8diahtGdarn3 @Newport13

Thanks for the post.

Can you please answer the following so we can get a better understanding of what you are experiencing:

- Have you ensured your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for the device to connect to? The Roku Express/Premiere are only compatible with wireless b/g/n networks on the 2.4 GHz spectrum.
- Have you tried changing the wireless broadcast channel on the router to see if this will allow your device to connect?
- Have you tried moving the device closer to your router to see if you can get connected?
- How long have you been experiencing this problem?

If those things still aren't helping, feel free to send me a PM with your Roku account email address and the serial number of your Roku from Settings>System>About along with the answers to the above questions and I'll be able to assist you further from there.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Roku won’t connect to WiFi but all other devices in house work!

I am having same issue with connectivity to internet. Roku Premiere worked fine since I got it last month then just yesterday evening it can't connect to internet. I does not even see any networks to connect to, usually. I have tried all the steps in support. All other devices in the house are able to connect no problem. Any suggestions on what to do?

Re: Roku won’t connect to WiFi but all other devices in house work!

I am also having this same problem. It began last night. I'd had good connectivity for months, and it went down suddenly. All other devices on the wireless network are functioning normally. I'm getting error 014-30.

1. I have a Roku Ultra, model 4670RW. Software is 9.3.0, build 4170-46.

2. I have rebooted the Roku box and the router. I left the Roku box unplugged all last night. the Router (Linksys EA6400) was left offline for 1 minute. No change

3. I have re-entered my Wifi password into the Roku box to set up a network connection. Still no change.

4. I moved the Roku box right next to the router. No change.

5. When I ask the Roku box to search for networks, it shows a good strength for the one I have set up. However, it still will not connect, even when I remove my laptop and smart phone from the network.

I don't know how to PM you @RokuDanny-R [personal information removed]

Please advise.

@SwitchKitten

Thanks for the post.

Try taking a look here for more tips about troubleshooting that network error code: What should I do if I cannot connect to my home network or the internet?

We recommend rebooting both your wireless router and your Roku device. Have you made any recent changes to your wireless network recently?

Please keep us posted what you find out.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Roku won’t connect to WiFi but all other devices in house work!

@RokuDanny-R

I went through each step one by one before I posted my comment, just to make sure I was doing everything correctly.

I verified the network was correct, I unplugged both the router and the Roku Ultra device for well over a minute, and plugged them back in. I also rebooted the Roku Ultra device. No change.

No changes to the wireless network were made in the last three months.

However, after talking to another network specialist who happens to be a friend, he recommended I unplug the Netgear WiFi repeater we use, and then try to re-connect the Roku, which did work. I then plugged the repeater back in once connectivity was restored and verified. It took about 5 minutes, but full Wifi network strength was restored to my laptop. It has been about 20 minutes, and it appears the network connection on the Roku has remained stable. The repeater has been active on the Wifi network for over four months and this is the first problem we've encountered with it refusing to give IP addresses to the Roku.

I hope this helps.

Re: Roku won’t connect to WiFi but all other devices in house work!

I tried all those steps and rebooted router and roku device and it still does not work. I did not make any changes to our wireless network. We were just watching it in the afternoon and came back in the evening and it does not work. I am having no issues with any other devices in the house, all work great.

Any other suggestions?

Re: Roku won’t connect to WiFi but all other devices in house work!

By any chance do you have a Wifi repeater anywhere in your home?

That's what caused my problem. I had to unplug it, go through the network connection setup again on the Roku, and once that was established, I then plugged in the repeater again.

The only other tricks I know of is to disabling network pings, and possibly trying a factory reset. You could also try to hook up the Roku to the TV using an Ethernet cable and see if that works, too.

Let me know if you have any success!

Re: Roku won’t connect to WiFi but all other devices in house work!

I don't have a WiFi repeater and I have tried those other tricks you mentioned. Thanks for the ideas.

It is strange as the Roku does not even find any network connections anymore. Typically there is a list of 5/10 networks from my own and neighbors but now it is blank.

Re: Roku won’t connect to WiFi but all other devices in house work! And now the screen in frozen

THis am the tv stopped working It was showing Roku not connected to the internet.  I connected it and it said okay...but then would not work.  I reconnected it said okay..but would not work.  We went thru this about dozen times.  I have shut down and restarted and repluged everything.  One unusual item ...when connecting I did get a request to find if   I am from home or a hotel or dorm  I am trying from home.  After shutting down the last time it brought me to the  Lets get started page"  It lwould try to connect..but then said to update software. I could not update the software as it had the screen frozen.    This has been working for over a month.  My computer and Kindle a working are working it is only the Roku.  Help!!!

Re: Roku won’t connect to WiFi but all other devices in house work!

Hi Danny, I have 3 Roku devices... they were the ones that cost $89 at best buy around Dec last year.

July 26th i was getting 38mb on my ROKU.  Great.  I LOVE my ROKU.  Then on July 27th, it dropped to 2mb

I had done nothing to the system at all... I thought perhaps the modem?  I called Centurylink where i get my dsl on a paired bonded line... and they sent a new modem today.  I hooked it up with their assistance to no avail.   I can get between 0 and 2 mb on the Roku now.  doesn't matter which TV... or Roku device.

The other wifi items in my home work fine just as before.

Is this an issue with the latest update?  i have 9.3.0 update.. with the Build 4172

can you PLEASE help me?
