Roku Ultra and Roku Streaming Stick not connecting to my home network

Jump to solution

Since January 31, 2021 when we had a big snowstorm, we haven't been able to stream most of our apps on either our Ultra or Streaming Stick. Whenever we tried playing these apps, (Hulu, Crackle and Peacock especially) Network Error is the reason given for playback failure. I have contacted our ISP and Netgear support for our router, and both said that they can find nothing wrong with our connections, unless it were a problem physically with out router because of our daughters tugging at it and possibly damaging it. Has anyone else had playback issues since the end of January?

P.S. Both devices work perfectly when we connect them to our cellphones using them as Mobile Hotspots

If they work fine using the hotspot, that pretty much points the finger at your home router. I don't have a Stick any longer (gave it to my grandson), but I have three Ultra players. One uses WiFi while the other two are hard wired. No connection issues with any of them. My Premiere is wireless, as is the small Roku TV, and they too are working fine.

Roku hasn't released any OS updates since mid-December, except for the Ultra 4800. So it's unlikely anything was updated that could have caused the problem.

Roku Stick (3600), Ultra (4640), Ultra (4670), Ultra (4800), Premiere (3920), Insignia 720p Roku TV, Sharp 4K Roku TV, Nvidia Shield, Windows 10 Pro x64 running Serviio and Plex on a wired Gigabit network.

Since I first posted this, I've gotten a new Netgear Nighthawk AX5200, a WiFi6 router. I'm using Wifi only connections to my Roku Ultra, and I continue to have Network Error issues primarily with Hulu, Crackle, Peacock and Vudu. Amazon Prime Video loads, but not as smoothly and quickly as it did before. Netflix, Disney Plus and others appear to be working just fine. All these apps work just fine on our cell phones with the new WiFi.

For the Record, there is no modem in our network. Our internet receiver is connected to a Power Injector, and that is connected directly to our router via an ethernet cable.
