Roku Premiere will not recognize alternate WiFi network

My Roku will not acknowledge my secondary WiFi network. The default setting on my router is 2G, whereas I also have access to 5G. When I type in the specific network name/password, it does not come up as valid. I have tested connections on other devices with both networks and speed tests all indicate solid signal strength. I continue to receive error code 014.30 when attempting to set up a new network.

Re: Roku Premiere will not recognize alternate WiFi network

It's not clear what you mean by "alternate", but the latest Premiere only supports 2.4GHz.  What's the model number from Settings->System->About?  The "Premiere" name has been used many times and I believe there was an older model that supported 5GHz.

Re: Roku Premiere will not recognize alternate WiFi network

I assume you're referring to 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network bands, rather than cellular 2G or 5G service.

Assuming that, that code refers to a weak network signal, from what I'm seeing from Web searches. Have you already tried everything listed here: https://support.roku.com/article/208755728

Re: Roku Premiere will not recognize alternate WiFi network

Correct; I am not referring to a cellular device. I have tried all steps: resetting all devices involved several times, confirmed all network names and passwords multiple times, and my Roku is about eight feet from my router with zero obstructions between. Today, my signal moved from “poor” to “fair” once and then back again, without diverting from the actions listed above. Maybe I just have to buy a new Roku being that this one is a few years old?

Re: Roku Premiere will not recognize alternate WiFi network

I would hate to think you'd need a new Roku device. Sure, it could be the wireless adapter in the Roku device is the problem, but there could be something interfering with the signal.

The Roku model number may help with that, as @renojim said. What is the model number?

Reiterating what @@renojim said, the current Roku Premiere is a lower end unit with a single band Wi-Fi radio that only supports the 2.4 GHz band. They, and many other older devices of all sorts, can't even see the 5 GHz band, let alone connect to it. Make sure your router's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band is active and is using a channel in the 1-11 range that is authorized for use in the US. Some other parts of the world authorize channels 12 and 13 but Rokus can't use them.
