Roku Express disconnecting from internet and won't reconnect without resetting router

Purchased a Roku Express to upgrade an older model.  However, the Roku will disconnect from the internet when not in use and will not reconnect unless the router is reset.  The network is available and showing in settings but the Roku will not reconnect.  When we try to connect, it will connect to the wireless but not the internet.  The only "fix" we have found is to reset the router and we are having to do this daily.  We did not have this issue with the old Roku and still aren't, because we moved it to another room and it still stays connected.  The only reason we "upgraded" was we were offered a promotion from Roku.  This Roku Express has been anything but an upgrade.  Having to reset the router daily is becoming increasingly frustrating.  If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this problem, we would greatly appreciate them.

Re: Roku Express disconnecting from internet and won't reconnect without resetting router

Are you using the TV's USB port for power such that when you turn off the TV the Roku loses power?  If so, use the supplied power adapter and just leave it powered on at all times.  If not, then I don't have any suggestions.  It shouldn't be disconnecting.

Yes, we are using the USB to power the Roku from the TV.  We will try plugging it into an outlet, BUT we had the older Roku hooked to the same TV for power also and we never had the issue of it disconnecting.  Plus, when we turn on the Roku, the wireless network is showing but we cannot connect to it.  It is very frustrating to have to reset the router every time.  Hopefully plugging it into the wall will solve the problem.  If not, we may be bringing back the older one Smiley Happy
