...Any ideas if the Xfinity surfboard could cause that? Pretty insane considering Roku having to fight comcast recently for HBO and Showtime (Guys-seriously? Showtime sucks.... should've left that off the roku lol-I haven't found anything worth watching on that junk show...)
A buddy of mine did setup an old linux computer that hosted a fake wlan... it caused this guys laptop to freeze whenever he would connect, it was exploiting a port and windows xp fault with a null packet-could the xfinity modem be doing something similar? The modem is a technicolor I believe... If you want to know the modem model # I can get it... I'd be happy to give y'all a reason to sue the pants off of comcast as long as you send me $30 for all the problems I had with this stupid surfboard
I have Comcast. I own a Surfboard modem. Now, I'm not using a Roku 2, but a Roku 3. However, it works just fine. My son's Roku 2 XS has worked on my setup, too. And, my Roku Streaming Stick works fine.
Bottom line, I'm not having any issues using Comcast Internet service and a Surfboard modem. While there could be an issue with a particular piece of equipment, it's not Comcast in general. Quit thinking lawsuit and focus on fixing the issue.
It could be your Roku. If you want to try a manual (using the switch on the back) factory reset, be sure you hold the button down for no less than 30 seconds.
I assume it's the precious Roku 2 (model 2720), which means you can only connect wirelessly; the new Roku 2 has a LAN port. That makes it difficult to troubleshoot Roku issues from wireless issues. But, if other devices connect, that leans away from wireless issues.
After the full factory reset (30 seconds, at least), report back and let us know if that works, or if there are new symptoms.
