Just bought a new Roku Streaming Stick Plus. Out of the box it connected to my iPhone XR’s hotspot without issue. After the Roku updated it’s software and rebooted, it will no longer connect to the mobile hotspot. It connects to other Wifi networks without issue.
In my limited knowledge and research, it appears that perhaps the DFS channels that the iPhone broadcasts on do not play nice with the Roku. This is odd since pre-software update things worked fine.
So guys, I pretty much had to change my hotspot pw to all lower case letters and numbers only, then I had to reset the network settings on my iphone:
then I had to reset the network settings on roku:
then I had to reconnect and reenter my pw, it asked me to restart the roku and I did that and it then connected. After connected I also updated the roku software.
Its working now
Thanks for continuing to share your reports. The latest software release, Roku OS 9.2, has improvements included that should address this issue.
To resolve the issue, connect your device to a standard wireless network, and perform a system update by visiting Settings>System>System update>Check now on your device. Once you confirm that your device is updated to OS 9.2 (Settings>System>About), try connecting to your hotspot once again.
As noted earlier in this thread, you may also want to try resetting your network connection in Settings>System>Advanced system settings>Network connection reset.
Following these steps should help resolve the issue, and allow you to connect once again. If your device is already updated to OS 9.2 in Settings>System>About, and you have tried all the steps discussed in this article to troubleshoot your network, please see this topic.
