Moved, lost Roku remote, can't connect Roku to network on mobile app remote

Jump to solution

We have a Roku streaming stick that we lost the remote control for a long time ago.  Usually, we just use the remote control in the app, but we just moved and now the Roku remote can't see the device and we can't access any settings options to fix the wireless info.  Do we HAVE to buy a new remote?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear about the lost remote!

Yes, you will need a physical remote in order to input your new password and connect to a new wireless network. For US customers, you can check out replacement remotes in our accessories store here: https://www.roku.com/products/accessories

Thanks,

Tanner

You need to pair your smart Phone app with your Roku probably. Easiest just to uninstall the Roku app from your Phone and get it back then pair.

Otherwise Remotes are like 6 bucks. Thats one less Big Mac.

@delilahwells Thanks for the note. You will need a physical remote in order to connect your Roku player to a new wireless network. The IP address of your device can be found in Settings>System>About. You'll only be able to connect to your device using the mobile app once the device is connected to the same wireless network as your mobile device.

You can pick up a replacement remote for your device here: https://www.roku.com/products/accessories

You'll want to make sure you purchase the correct remote for your specific model of Roku device. Compatible model numbers are listed next to each remote in each category.

Let us know if you have any other questions we can help with!

Thanks,

Tanner
