Help & troubleshooting for network issues, including connecting your device to your home Wi-Fi network, connecting to public networks, troubleshooting wireless issues & ethernet connections, and optimizing streaming performance.
My wifi connection is good. While watching shows on MTV, ABC, and NBC after about 5 minutes or less into a show the "no connection error" comes on. I check my connection and it connects perfectly fine. I go back to the show watch a few minutes and again the "no connection error" shows. I've had my Roku Premiere and the same internet connection for a few years with no problems, this just started within the last week. When I watch shows on Netflix this doesn't happen. I've tried a system restart, a network connection restart, and removing the channel and re-adding it. I've also moved the roku to a different location and moved the TV forward. Nothing is helping!
Re: Good wifi signal, shows keep losing connection.
Couple of possibilities come to mind:
After removing a channel, best practice is to restart your Roku to clear its memory before reinstalling the channel. Did you do this?
Restart via Settings > System > System restart (for Roku TVs: Settings > System > Power > System restart).
Is your Roku device powered by plugging it into a USB port on your television? The ports on many televisions only supply 0.5 amp, which is not enough to power a Roku reliably.
It is recommended that you power your Roku device via the power adapter that came with it, plugged into your house power. If you no longer have the USB power adapter that came with your device, you may have another one handy from another device that can be used -- just make sure the tiny print on it confirms it has a 5 volt dc output of at least 1 amp.
