Error code 003

Having tried all the troubleshooting fixes suggested, I still get the error code 003. Links back to the help page are not helpful either.

Have you tried the following the troubleshooting steps provided by our Support page regarding this specific error message: What should I do if my Roku® device is unable to update ...

In addition, recommend trying to connect your device to an alternate network, such as a mobile hotspot.

Hi Mary,

I have tried all the fixes suggested, so there aint much point in signposting me back to the help pages I started with, which were no help whatsoever! I still have not resolved the Error 003 issue. I have a good wireless signal and I an connected to the internet but the same message persists "UNABLE TO UPDATE SOFTWARE!"

Thanks for keeping in touch and providing an update.

If you are unable to resolve the issue, kindly provide the serial number/device id of the Roku device from Settings>System>About along with a summary of the issue you are experiencing. I'll be able to assist you further from there.

Having same problem with INITIAL software update on SECOND Roku streaming device on my wireless network. So, cannot go to home page etc., etc., because initial setup on this second device is unable to get past the initial software update.  Connection to internet is not the problem, nor is signal strength.

FIRST device (1st and 2nd devices are both Roku Express) went through setup with no problem and has been working fine for weeks now.  Tried the new "voice controlled" device with disasterous results - never got to home screen - return the clunker and now am trying to add 2nd Roku Express to 2nd TV.  Did your crack software engineers consider there might be 2 Rokus on the same router?

If this can't be resolved, I will have to quit Roku entirely and move to some streaming service that works.

Mary, If we can't complete initial setup, we can't navigate anywhere with the ........ device. It is stuck there. Only option is to go back and re-connect to network.  Then you can repeat the "unable to update software exercise" until you run out of curse words. If it is not possible to use more than one Roku in a home, maybe you should warn possible customers of this product flaw and leave the warning posted at least until the Roku have been fixed and tested beyond beta testing.

Very disappointing, and I am getting tired of paying all the return shipping.

I understand that you are unable to complete setting up your Roku Express with an error message. If you are receiving this specific error message even after multiple attempts, the update failure is likely the result of a network connectivity issue. 

Have you tried rebooting your wireless network to see if that resolves the issue you are experiencing? Alternately, I'd also recommend trying to connect your device to an alternate network or mobile hotspot.

Hi Mary,

You keep repeating yourself and signposting me back to things that have been tried and have failed to resolve the error. We are going in circles. You requested the device serial number (which I provided) and have implied there is a solution. I am still waiting for that solution! Is there a fix or not? If not say so and I will look for another streaming device but not one manufactured by ROKU.
