ERROR CODE 004 - unable to update software

Please help. After selecting my network name and putting in my correct password, I click on Connect. It has a green check mark next to both Wireless connection and Internet connection. It says “update available” I click ok. It immediately says “Unable to update software. The software update failed because of an internal error. Error Code: 004.” Can someone please help?

Is this a new device?  An internal error doesn't sound good, but a lot of people have made it  past initial update problems by connecting to an alternate network like a cell phone's hotspot just to get through the update.
