My Express has worked without issue since I bought it. Then out of nowhere, none of the apps would connect to the Internet, despite verifying the device had an excellent connection. I’ve tried restarting both the router and Express multiple times. I even performed a factory reset. Now it allows me to set up and successfully connect to my Wi-Fi network, but won’t go any further without a 003 Error (Unable to update software).
Some people have set up a cellphone hotspot to download updates. That might be worth trying.
I'd ensure the 2.4 GHz network is on channel 1, 6, or 11, trying all three if necessary, to ensure a crowded network isn't part of the problem. Note that devices on the same channel can interfere, even if not on your network.
