So we lost our Roku remote and have been using the apps on our phone. However our network name has recently changed and I cannot connect to the Roku through my phone anymore. I have to change the network name on the television however I don’t have a Roku remote. Does anyone know how to do this? Or even if it can’t be done?
Hi there,
Thanks for the note. If the details of your wireless network have changed, or your device has become disconnected from your network and you need to go back through setting up your network connection again, you will need your physical Roku remote. The Roku mobile app can only connect to your device once it is connected to the same network as your mobile device.
If you have lost your remote, or need to purchase a replacement in the US, you can visit our accessories store here: https://www.roku.com/products/accessories
Thanks,
Tanner

There needs to be a better solution via app! Roku player is great but the roku remote is the pits....constantly loses connection. Needs improvement!!!
That's such **bleep**, they could make it where you don't need to buy a new remote, just another greedy corporation.
I just did this after two days of tearing my hair out! You need two devices (laptops, phones, tablets) that connect to the internet.
On Device 1, create a hotspot. Give the hotspot the same name as your former router (on an iPhone, go to settings -> general -> about -> name. Change that to your former router's ID).
Then create a hotspot and set to "allow others to join." Create a passcode identical to your former router's passcode.
With Device 2, go to settings -> wifi, and ask to join the hotspot. Once you are connected, open your Roku remote app. It should recognize the Roku as a device on that network. From there, the Roku app will work as usual and you can go to settings to change the connection to your new one.
Be sure to kill the hotspot connections when you're done, so you don't rack up huge data usage charges!
