Help & troubleshooting for network issues, including connecting your device to your home Wi-Fi network, connecting to public networks, troubleshooting wireless issues & ethernet connections, and optimizing streaming performance.
I recently upgraded to a Roku stream at for my hut out back. I have a power line WiFi connection using a Devolo 500mps pair of plugs (one connected direct into my router) I was having a lot of trouble getting my Roku to connect via WiFi. It would connect briefly then lose connection. Checking the connection dosent help. To try to solve this I bought a Trendnet usb to Ethernet connector and it pops up immediately as a Wired connection. But once again, it worked for about 2-3 minutes then lost connection. I have a Roku 3 box which has worked faultlessly for about 3 years with no connection problems. Also my other devices such as iPhone iPad and Sonos all work fine too. It is just my Streambar at that won’t stay connected. I tried it through my phone hotspot and it seems to connect fine with good data. So I’m at a loss as to why it only works briefly with my huts data connection. any suggestions?
Hi, thanks for the reply. It does seem that it dosent like the signal from the power line adaptor. However I have also tried it wired through one of the Trendnet usb adaptors and it does the same with the wired connection so it’s not just the WiFi. It picks up the date, the settings say it’s excellent with no glitches etc but around 2-3 minutes it buffers and says it’s not connected to the internet. Why would it work fine for a few minutes on both WiFi and wired and then disconnect? This is the same wired connection I have used a Roku 3 box on for the last 3 years with no problems at all. I had the Streambar in the house to set it up initially and it appeared to work fine for the relatively brief time I had it on. also my other devices, both Android and IOS are working fine so I know there’s a good WiFi signal I’m open to suggestions.
