Can a 2.4ghz only Windows 10 wifi card connect to a Roku thats on a 5ghz band?

So I have a couple TCL roku tv's. They're all on the same wifi network and my laptop can project to it just fine. My GF's for some reason isnt picking up the TCL displays at all when you go to connect under Windows 10. Just nothing coming up. Her laptop only as an 802.11n and g. I have the Netgear Orbi mesh router and it automatically places devives on the appropriate band (2.4 or 5) depending on the connection. All tv's are currently on 5ghz. Could this the reason? All drivers and windows updates are up to date on the GF's laptop and its actually much newer than mine which can cast to the TV's no problem. Its very odd.
