RGB lightbulb won't stay connected

I set up my lightbulb, following the directions to a t. I checked all over to try and find the reason for what I am experiencing, and I can't find anything on it. My lightbulb won't stay connected to the app. If I close the app, and then open it a little later, it just won't reconnect to the light. It won't let me interact with it at all from the app, unless I reset the lightbulb each time

Re: RGB lightbulb won't stay connected

Hey @ZekeZach

Thanks for letting us know about the issue you're experiencing.

For starters, could you try checking the Wi-Fi connection by following the steps below:

  • Open a web browser on your mobile device and try visiting a public website such as www.roku.com. If this fails, check with your internet service provider (ISP) to inquire about an outage, or contact them directly. If they are not aware of an outage, try resetting your Wi-Fi router and modem.
  • If you recently moved, upgraded any network equipment, or changed the network name and/or password, you likely need to update the Wi-Fi settings for your smart home device.
  • How far if your light bulb from your wireless router?

Let us know how it goes!

All the best,
Kariza

Having the same issue. Bulb keeps losing connection. I work in I.T. So I know it isn’t my Wi-Fi. It is a bulb issue.

Re: RGB lightbulb won't stay connected

Mine are doing the same thing with not wanting to connect to the app again after I am away from it for a while. I am less than 10 feet from the wifi router. They are set up in my office. So when i leave for the day they are turned off and when I come back in the morning I have to get them into pairing mode again and add them as a new device everyday just to get them to pair. Then there is the issue of lagging between the app and light it self.

Re: RGB lightbulb won't stay connected

just bought 10 of these bulbs. 1 of them connected then wouldnt connect again.

none of them will connect to wifi or pair with the app.

ive reset them, ive tried to do them one at a time.

they all pulse green, then pulse blue when pairing, then fail every time and wont connect. they will then turn bright white, but will not be paired or on the app.

i tried everything i could find, or think off. this seems like a programing issuse. especially since every thing has to be updated, its likley a fault of programing not keeping up, and someone didnt think to keep the old stuff accessible till its connected and updated..

Re: RGB lightbulb won't stay connected

I am having the same issue as the others in this post.  What I dont see is a Roku response on the fix? Am I missing something? Please provide a fix, this is annoying.

Re: RGB lightbulb won't stay connected

They will just tell you to reset it and that it’s your Wi-Fi. It is a bulb defect. Either the Wi-Fi antenna is junk or the firmware is. It is why they are cheap.

Re: RGB lightbulb won't stay connected

I agree it is probably a bulb issue, probably in the firmware. I changed my router to use a 2.4GHz WiFi channel that is not in use by my neighbors. It seems to have helped, so far no disconnects.
