Hi all,
We've identified a fix we'll be rolling out in the upcoming week or two. Thank you for your patience.

PARTY TIME preparations — thank you from all of us!
Thanks!
Just got updated ios Roku remote app. Sample size of a few minutes, but good so far! It was easy to replicate, so the fact that it is working when changing which app is in focus and deactivating my phone screen make me confident that it is truly fixed. Thanks guys!
This is not a solution until the update gets pushed. It’s been almost a year since this was brought up.
Please post the version number of the app that contains the fix. I see a note from 2 weeks ago for 12.4.1 that states:
- Fixed an intermittent app navigation issue
- Other minor bug fixes and performance improvements.
12.5.0 released today (05/01/2025) says
- Fixed an intermittent tab navigation issue
- Other minor bug fixes and performance improvements
Neither of these updates mention application freezing, lockups, or a need to restart the app. It may be premature to mark this as solved

Hi there! The original poster marked this post as solved as the update is working for them. Go ahead and try to download the update and let us know if it's solved for you or not. Version 12.5.0 was released today (5/1/25). In the notes, bug fixes and performance improvements are noted.
Let us know what you find!
I updated the ios app this afternoon and it works. Granted the sample size is an hour, but it always failed immediately and was easy to replicate. Trust me I have been very frustrated by this, but I believe it is fixed. Refresh on your app store and see if it’s an available update.
(lol it took a moment to tag you b/c the forum software was a bit of a weekend build project heh, “Discourse” infinitely more polished if they wanna switch)
Apple does something kinda clever, but surprising since it’s not obvious, with updates. They kinda push in waves.
Search or ask “Siri search Roku on App Store”, open the Roku result, and see if it says “Update” instead of just “Open”. If it says Open:
Back out of the app listing back to search results, and tap Roku again. That should get it to recognize you want the latest version. (Not a terrible feature, since new releases can always be buggy, so might as well let 10% of people complain on Hour 0 instead of 100% of people.)
No dice? Try again, force quit, restart phone, try again. Should show up!

@r0kumonkey thanks for superspeed testing for us. Kinda awkward nobody at the company acknowledged my super lengthy post on how normal humans treat moderating threads, or my emails, but maybe they were busy HUSTLING to get this update out!
On my end: wanna get a pre-test in, check logs, update on another device, test again, check logs, and see. Feeling entirely hopeful. On that note…
THANK YOU ROKU TEAM! 💪
@RokuAustin special thanks 🙏 glad I PM’d you & got your in-thread replies
