I was having the same issue for months and at the moment it seems to be working for me. The only thing I did different that I know of is that I used the "Top Picks For You" which appears at the top of the home screen for that last few items that you might want or have watched. One of those that appeared was a MAX series. Perhaps it re-synced my account. This may be a clue or has nothing to do with the problem at all. I was hopeful that Roku figured out the real reason and fixed it for everyone as I don't want that issue again!
So here we are March 1st 2025 and this is still happening ! Same issue on multiple Roku devices yet other brand devices stay logged in trouble free.
My issue is back so I'm waiting again for a fix. This is ridiculous!!! I see where MAX changed their password settings so the logic error could be related. I did try to reset my password but it didn't end up solving the problem.
Can we get an update on this very old problem?
For a week or two, i haven't had any issues on any of my roku tvs. Idk what they did, but my stuff appears to be fixed.
I may have a fix. Was having to re-authenticate each time I used the ESPN app with YOUTUBE TV on Roku and iPad. This was in addition to having same issue with MAX. Was able to talk to a real person with ESPN tech. Think this fixes the issue, give it a try.
1. In your Apple phone, iPad or device go to settings, general, TV provider. Would recommend doing this on all iOS devices.
2. Where it says “Allow TV Provider to Access” - Uncheck or toggle left to “off” both ESPN, MAX and any other paid subscription.
3. Do not remove TV provider or at least I didn’t.
That’s it!
Not sure about Android but with Apple for some reason it was always seeking some sort of authorization from YouTube TV subscription even though I was using a Roku Ultra device? Good luck and God Bless.
Thanks Cuz for the solution ideas since Roku is worthless with their support!! I might have stumbled on a similar solution for Google / Android accounts based on your fix.
I went to the "Third-party apps & services" and found Roku had some permissions in this account. In my case it was for Roku Backdrops and Photo Streams. I selected and removed this access.
Things seem to be operating as they should and I don't need to log in every time. I doubt that the Photo streaming works anymore as intended, but it does have other configuration methods. I'm also confident that this issue still exists within Roku applications and it's authentication practices, which is sad and should be fixed by any real technology company - do I need to say more? I'm hoping this helps.
