Re: My Roku TV keeps asking me to name my inputs every time I start them.

@pravin7646 try forcing a system update. It's seems Roku may have very recently created a fix that only works when you force a system update. Hopefully that works for you!

There is an apparent fix that may not be loaded to all TVs yet. Try forcing a software update (Settings - System - Software Update) and see if that helps.

[Pending Release] Roku TV Issue: Prompting to Name or Set Up the Device

Jump to solution

Hey there! @pravin7646,

Thanks for reaching out about the input issue on the Roku TV.

Status Update 3/27:

We're planning to send a small batch of updates out tomorrow, and as long as that update doesn't cause any issues, most people will see this fix over the next week, but this timeline could change.

Note that this is a backend update, so your firmware version won't change. You can still check for a manual update (Settings > System > System Update > Check Now) to ping for the backend update sooner, but not all TVs will receive it at the same time.

"we noticed you connected a new device"   The problem is I have not connected a new device. This problem just started within a week and I have no idea why. is there anywhere in the settings I can turn this aggravating message off?????  I haven't had this problem since I bought the TV two years ago.

It is a known bug, and Roku is working on a fix.

Good to hear Mary from Roku community tell us they're working on it. I do appreciate that. But I'm very curious what caused this annoying screw up in the first place. This glitch Roku created freaked out a lot of people and has probably got a lot of people just going out and buying new TVs. Ridiculous. Get your act together Roku.
