This needs to get fixed. How does it take 6+ days to figure this out and Roku is still out there selling its products with total lack of suppport.
I was about to buy a new one too so thank you for saving me the hassle!
Model - 4640 - Roku Ultra
Software version - 14.1
Hulu Version 6.91 - build 0
Didn't know I should capture the Tracker ID during the many times this has occurred.
So far I have only had the issue on sports programs.
The show is recorded and shows in 'My Stuff', sometimes as only a black box. When I start the recording, it will play fine for 5 to 10 minutes, then freezes and shuts down the Hulu app. I can then restart the Hulu app, reselect the recorded program and again, it will play fine for 5 to 10 minutes, then shut down the Hulu app. To watch the complete program, I have to go through this process many times.
I have restarted Roku multiple times. I did a factory reset of my Roku Ultra. I was considering buying a new Roku Ultra until I found this thread. Please get this fixed ASAP!
It's a joint problem between roku and hulu. All other streaming services are working on roku, like YouTube tv.
Agreed - I’m pretty much ready to just throw these Roku units in the trash. Complete horse**bleep**.
Unless you are on this community, and see what's happening with these units you have no idea whats happeng and are out there Buying these units and will get a shock when you try to use it.
I am experiencing the same problem on all of my Roku devices. I have a Roku Streaming Stick+, Roku Ultra and Roku Express. Ran update and restarted all devices. Removed and reinstalled Hulu app. Same problem continues.
On the Roku Streaming Stick and Ultra, playback of the Hulu recording stops, then immediately returns to the Roku Home screen. On the Express the playback freezes and locks the screen. I have to manually return to the Roku home screen. It happens with all recorded content, not just with any specific content.
Same issue. I deleted all but a few of my recordings and that seemed to solve the problem.
Until you record again. Then what!!
actually pretty simple:
when you click on the show and the recorded-episode list pops up, if it loads less than 5 seconds, you can probably watch the show w/o issues, if it take more than 5 seconds, it will defiantly crash.
But this is just for recorded shows. Streaming other shows crash as well. Only 'live' is ok.
With the frustration that is out there and since this is almost a week now, people may start going to the Fire Stick or any other non-Roku product.
While this is only with the Hulu app, would be nice to hear from Roku any status, if they are working with Hulu or not. Since others seem to be contacting Hulu and trying the same things that will not work, Roku needs to talk with Hulu and Hulu needs to let their customer support agents know that this is now a known problem and stop wasting people's time with trouble-shooting tasks that will not work.
Again, some sort of update from Roku, or joint update from Roku and Hulu is warranted.
