email activation problems Roku 4k

I have done the set up six times including six factory resets. I get all the way to activation by email and nothing happens. Nothing is in my spam folder, nothing is in my inbox. I’ve tried multiple email addresses. Do these roku sticks really even work? Roku Streaming Stick 4k.
