Try the serial number that shows under your linked devices at https://my.roku.com .  Why the serial number on the box doesn't match the one on your account nobody knows.

We believe that this activation outage that happened yesterday is now resolved. If you have not received an email from Roku during activation, please go through the activation process again on your Roku device to finish your activation.
