Watching Roku on Tablet

Jump to solution

I've got a Roku Streaming Stick + and I'm trying to watch on my tablet. I've installed the Roku app and my channels show up there. When I click on one of my channels to watch the remote control comes up. Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how do I fix it. Thanks so much for any help!

Roku only displays content via the HDMI (or, for the Express+, composite) output to a TV. It does not play content to another device. You can go from phone/table to Roku, but not from Roku to phone/tablet.

The whole purpose of the Roku app for your phone or tablet is for the device to function as a remote for the Roku. You watch the Roku on your TV. You can control it via your mobile device.

On the Roku app I can watch what's on on my tablet but can't watch my channels. Don't understand that?

Roku app was designed to be a Remote Control app initially, they added video player for local content on phone so you could cast it onto the Roku. Also, most of the apps that Roku has usually have an Android and iPad native app anyways. Content providers would not want Roku playing their content via their player on another platform.

@oldergeneration

Thanks for the inquiry.

If you are accessing The Roku Channel on your computer, you will have access to some premium subscription content under the 'Browse Premium Subscription' section. This section includes content from HBO, Showtime, and STARZ for example.

Thanks,
Danny
