Secure streaming from internet to tv

Hi, I am trying to stream secure content that I purchased onto my Samsung smart TV. I’m able to watch this content on my iPad or iPhone but I am unable to project that onto my TV. Best Buy told me to try an HDMI cable then roku. Do I understand correctly that I cannot project from iPhone or iPad to tv using roku?  Otherwise the movie vendor told me that I need to buy Apple TV box for secure content. Help...?!

Re: Secure streaming from internet to tv

Its a little vague/ambiguous as to what you are trying to do (you need to include more details)

If you purchased content using a particular service, consider using the native app for that service on the Roku for the best quality/experience (e.g. if you purchased some content from Apple/iTunes, use the Apple app on your Roku logged in with your Apple account to access it).

If you are trying to mirror (remote display) content from your Apple phone/tablet/device, you'll need a 4K Roku model with AirPlay2 support (this is an alternate path, only do this if there is no native app/access to content on the Roku).

Thanks. I’m trying to display on th secure/purchased content from internet site not through specific app.  Would roku premiere fit specs you’re describing below?  Best Buy told me to try web browser via roku (not my tv) but I couldn’t figure out where/how to access general web via roku. Thanks!

Re: Secure streaming from internet to tv

There's three methods of screen sharing with Roku devices. You can use a Windows 10 laptop (it appears to require a wireless connection, which most desktops don't have), and Android device can screen mirror (likely requires a free app) or you can use AirPlay from an iOS device to certain 4K Roku devices.

But it's not something that can be done just using a particular browser. It has to be one of the above three methods. And there's no web browser for Roku devices.

Rokus dont have browsers.

Is it possible that this "internet site" has an app for streaming?  If it does, that would be the preferred method.

The premiere (3920) supports both Miracast and AirPlay2 for mirroring, so if thats the route you want to go, it would work (you would mirror from your Apple phone/tablet).

Your Samsung TV (model unknown) may support Miracast and/or AirPlay2 natively (depends on the model), or even have a built-in browser, in which case the Roku would be redundant.

If this "internet site" absolutely requires a browser, and you dont want to mirror it from another device and your TV model doesnt have one built-in, you could try a FireTV stick (or other Android/AndroidTV based device) and install and use either the Silk browser, or FireFox etc.
