Help getting started with Roku devices, including setup, connecting your device to your TV, linking a Roku device to your account at my.roku.com/link, adding channels, subscribing to services, and more.
So before I begin, my devices are fine, in US English and everybody's happy on the device side. This is about the website.
Once I log in, no matter what I do, the site INSISTS that I'm to read the site in French. I can set it back to US English at the bottom of the page, but as soon as I go to a different section of the website, such as the Channel Store, it flips right back to fr-fr.
I think this is affecting the channels I can install. for instance I have a subscription to Acorn TV in the US, but it's not available in my region. Also the search for channels feature is missing for some reason (possibly not related)
I've looked through my profile, but nowhere does it allow me to select my language. I've nothing against the French, they brought us fine wine and baguettes, but..
IP is and was (as far as I'm aware) in Canada. It's possible that the IP was tagged to a Quebec geo. IP geo is pretty non-specific.
Feature request/obvious thing they should have already: They need to let you select a language preference. I don't care where they think I am, so long as I can read the site with better than grade 1 language skills. What if I was Korean living in USA, am I doomed to read the site in English?
Thank you for the suggestion. I'll make a new account.
Roku's website often thinks I'm in Great Britain. It will happen whenever I search for something and click on the link without noticing there's a "gb-en" in the link. I just remove all cookies from my browser with "roku" anywhere in the domain.
I've been waiting 10+ years for Roku to get a competent web team. It just ain't gonna happen.
