Roku Sound settings question

On Roku 3 in sound settings you got Audio Mode which is set to Auto and then you got HDMI which is set to auto detect. it also says select auto detect for HDMI out. I don't understand what all this means. I'm simply connecting my Roku 3 player with HDMI to my TV.  So can anyone explain to me these sound settings. What is the difference between Audio Mode and HDMI?

Thanks

Re: Roku Sound settings question

@YanSSS

Thanks for the inquiry.

Please be aware that Audio mode allows for a selection of audio settings when trying to play a movie or TV show in surround sound, then it is possible that your TV, AVR, or soundbar does not support the surround sound format used by the content provider.

For more information about using Audio mode, visit our Support page here: What should I do if I do not hear the audio from my Roku® streaming player?

Thanks,
Danny
