Roku Express setup issue

Purchased a Roku Express device for my Sony Bravia TV. Started setup as instructed, device connects to a wireless connection and “updates.” However after updating the device seems to momentarily disconnect from the TV then reconnects itself however only shows a blank purple screen. Bouncing Roku logo shows up by itself and then proceeds to start the connection from the beginning (selecting the language and connecting to WIFI) Tried to reset the device using reset button, still does the same process... can someone please help?

First, make sure you're using the supplied power adapter.  Second, to do a full factory reset hold in the reset button for at least 30 seconds while ignoring anything happening onscreen.  If neither of those help I'd probably take it back.
