Help getting started with Roku devices, including setup, connecting your device to your TV, linking a Roku device to your account at my.roku.com/link, adding channels, subscribing to services, and more.
I recently bought a second Roku and the past three nights when I get home from work after I enter a email address and get sent a email to activate the device but when I click the link it says temporarily down for maintenance. I didn’t have any issues with the first device and not sure why this issue is happening.
I've seen the occasional report of this recently, but enough to make me think it's a long-term issue. Let me offer an observation that may (or may not) impact you and be causing the issue.
Things do occasionally go wrong. And, sometimes, the system is actually down. Not much, some sometimes.
Now, add to the mix this tidbit: some browsers try to be extra "helpful" by caching page data, to sometimes include redirection pages.
This can be complicated by redirections giving the wrong status code to the browser, making the browser think it's a permanent redirection. Even without this, the browser can still cache the redirection.
The result is that going to the page at a later time will cause the redirection (to the "Down For Maintenance" page) to happen, without even checking. The browser will simply read the cached data and act on that, rather than taking the extra step to check the actual destination page.
So, I'm going to suggest clearing your browser cache and history, closing the browser, then try going to the page and see what happens.
