My TV with sound was on this morning. My husband turned it off, and I came back into the room later and turned it on — no sound. I contacted Roku support , and they gave me some BS that my local Roku account needed to be updated. I ask if I could do that, and they said no, we can do that for $50. Has anyone else encountered this?
In addition, the TV in our den has sound.
You were either scammed when you first set your Roku TV up, or you were being scammed when you called today (you called a scammer).
Roku's support number is (816) 272-8106 - and it only handles billing/account issues, and first time setup/activation.
If you called any other number, you called a scammer and were being scammed.
I suggest you immediately change the password to your Roku account.
If the sound through the Roku goes out, restart the Roku. Settings > System > System restart
