No Remote, Need To Connect Wifi

Hello, I lost my Roku remote while moving. So I downloaded the mobile app however I’m unable to connect to WiFi on the tv due to me not having a remote. So the mobile app can’t find the searched device because I’m unable to connect. Is there any other way I can connect the app to the tv or my tv to WiFi without the remote? ..... I don’t know my IP address.

Re: No Remote, Need To Connect Wifi

There is no way to connect a Roku to the network without a remote, and the app won't work until the Roku is connected to the network. Your Roku doesn't have an IP address until it connects.

Unless your Roku is a Streaming Stick, you can buy an inexpensive universal IR remote at almost any store that sells remotes. Just make sure they list Roku as a supported device. I've seen them in our local general merchandise store for under $10.

If you have a Streaming Stick, you must have a genuine Roku WiFi Direct remote, but it has to be the right model. If your Stick is the old purple model 3500, new remotes are no longer available. You can sometimes find used ones on eBay, but you'll end up paying as much as you'd pay for a new Roku. Also, if you have an older Stick, you'll find the latest Roku models perform far better, and in some cases your existing Roku might not even support some of the latest channels.

Re: No Remote, Need To Connect Wifi

Thank you so much for responding. So I went to Walmart and bought a Roku Express remote however still no luck. I didn’t realize it was just a streaming remote Until I got home & it doesn’t actual control the roku tv.

Re: No Remote, Need To Connect Wifi

No, the player remotes don't work for Roku TVs. They use a different IR code set. Sorry, I didn't realize you had a Roku TV. I thought it was just a player.

Re: No Remote, Need To Connect Wifi

You can still connect!!

RENAME YOUR MOBILE HOTSPOT TO THE LAST KNOWN NETWORK YOU CONNECTED TO

SET THE MOBILE HOTSPOT PASSWORD AS THE SAME PASSWORD TOO

MINE CONNECTED INSTANTLY!!!

USE A SECOND PHONE WITH ROKU APP INSTALLED AND CONNECT TO SAME MOBILE HOTSPOT. NOW YOU CAN CHANGE THE NETWORK OR USE THE REMOTE

YAAAAAAAY!
