A couple of things...
If it's not making it to the Home Screen where it shows the menu and all your installed channels/apps that has nothing to do with its Internet connection. I'd suspect some kind of power problem. If you're using the TV's USB port try using the supplied power adapter or some other USB power adapter/charger from a phone or tablet.
Second, what do you mean by subscription? There is no subscription to use a Roku, although there are many scams. There are individual subscriptions to things like Netflix or Hulu and some subscriptions can be paid through Roku, but there is no "Roku subscription".
