yes it did! the tv wont allow me to sign in either i don’t know if that can be a reason or an effect of not linking it

@be_li-da, we need more details on exactly what's happening. Once you factory reset a Roku it restarts and displays the "Select your language" screen. After that it should try to connect to your network and then it should try to link to your Roku account. How far in the process did you get? Were there any error messages? What screen is displaying right now?
Not true!! To view courses I have purchased from Great Courses on my Roku TV I have to use the link code. I do not have it as nowhere was I warned that I would need it for other things after setting up my tv so I deleted the email once I set up my tv.
@cspears, you have to contact Great Courses. Your problem has nothing to do with the link code that Roku used to use to link a device to a Roku account. Roku abandoned link codes a long time ago for device-to-Roku-account linking. Individual channels/apps may use them, but that has nothing to do with Roku.
