How do I fix an unresponsive remote that won’t do anything

I just bought a Roku express remote I haven’t been able to set it up due to the fact the remote is unresponsive I can’t click anything the light on the box gashes I have tried resetting both the box and remote have turned off the tv and everything still the remote won’t work I can’t even use the mobile app bc I have yet to connect to wifi

The first thing is to make sure you're using the supplied power adapter and not the TV's USB port.  An underpowered USB port can cause all kinds of strange problems.  If the light on the front is flashing then the remote must be doing something.
