Confirm that you followed the steps in the Quick Start Guide. Let us know at what step things didn't work out or what steps aren't clear.

Debbie, we can help, but we just need to know where that help is needed. I'm not quite sure what steps you've done and which you haven't. So, work with me here and we can get you up and streaming.

Re: Help with connection

I followed the quick start guide. It said something about selecting Input or source on my remote.  Neither of those words are on my remote.

Please post the make and model # of your TV, so we can better help.

Do what Jeff says.

And just to be clear, you should bet aware that your TV has different ways of playing stuff. If you connected the HDMI cord to the TV and to the Roku (that's a step to complete before you get to the Input selection) then your TV has a way of showing content from different sources. The default would be the built-in tuner for the TV, which would likely be via a cable/antenna connection. The other inputs would be for a streaming device (such as Roku), a DVD or Blu-ray player, a game system (Xbox, PS4, etc), or any one of a number of devices. And, since it has multiple inputs, there has to be a way of changing those. And, the remote that comes with the TV usually has that clearly marked. Well, unless they are worn off and hard to see.

Of course, if you are using a third party remote, such as a universal remote from Family Dollar, Walmart, Best Buy, or somewhere, then it could say just about anything. But, if the remote has the same brand name as your TV, then it's likely the remote that came with it, and should have the input/source selection button clearly marked.

It could be via a menu selection, which is common on most TVs, but it's usually a secondary way of getting to it. Normal way is the input/source button on a remote. But you might want to use the Menu on your TV to look at the inputs that are available there.

Responding to Jeff's request will help determine that.

It is a Toshiba. Model # 42RV530U. I use the remote provided by Spectrum our cable service.

There's your problem. You need to get the remote that came with the TV. Spectrum provides a remote for their box. It may also turn on and off your TV, as well as control the volume, but it isn't fully capable for controlling all the functions of your TV. Your TV came with a remote. Get that one.

A drawing of the TV remote is on page 21 of that owner's manual. https://support.toshiba.com/support/sta ... Id=2846958

The Input button is just below the "9" button on the remote.

According to page 10 of your TV's owners manual, the button on the side of the TV, just above the HDMI port on the side, is a manual Input/Source button. It will scroll through the inputs. If you can't find the remote, that's your only other option for changing the input on the TV. Unless you buy a new remote for that TV. Your best bet is to find the remote, hope the batteries aren't corroded, and use it to change the input on the TV.

By the way, if you enable CEC on the TV, pressing the HOME button on the Roku may allow it to turn the TV on and switch to the Roku input. Look in the manual for that. Of course, if it does that, you'll still need the original remote to change back to TV when you want to watch cable. Or use the Input button on the side of the set.

Re: Help with connection

Found the remote to the tv. So all is good now. Is there anyway to make it show English instead of Spanish? I have a Netflix account. How do  U set it up?
