I am having the same problem as other users being locked into a continuous loop whenever I try to setup the Roku Streaming Stick+ I purchased two of these items two days ago. I was able to get the first one to work, after it updated the software 4 times. but the second stick will not break the cycle. I've done a hard reset, I've reset the router, I've ensured the Mac Address was added, etc. Any help would be appreciated.
I go to the Welcome Screen, select my language.
It searches and finds my network. I receive three green arrows as it has no problems connecting to my network and internet.
At this point it says it has to find the latest software updates. It updates 100% then automatically restarts. This is where the problem begins because when it reboots it takes me back to the Welcome Screen over and over again!
We recommend rebooting both your wireless router and your Roku device.
I'd also recommend trying to connect your device to an alternate network or mobile hotspot. If you are able to connect without issue, this usually indicates an issue with your network or password. In that case, you might also try changing your network password (avoid using any special characters from your wireless network password) to see if that resolves the connection issue.
You could try taking it to a friend's house. Make sure you're using the supplied power adapter and not your TV's USB port. One person reported changing the HDMI cable made a difference (assuming it's not a stick). There's no way to update the software other than via the network connection (unless you have an actual Roku TV).
