Can’t get Roku to recognize new account

New to Roku, installed and got to point where it said e-mail for conf and completion of roku account sent to e-mail.  Went to e-mail and did it and even at end when done opted to install app on my phone. Linked it w/roku device on tv.  Roku never updated.  The screen remained stuck, and then said timed out even though I did it in 15 min window.  So now I say ok re-start and then I re-do everything till screen that says enter e-mail address of exhausting or new account.  So I did, and it sent me a new e-mail link, did that again! Still nothing!  What the FARMERS DOG is going on?

Thanks for the inquiry.

We recommend rebooting both your wireless router and your Roku device.

I'd also recommend trying to connect your device to an alternate network, such as a mobile hotspot, to update the software and setup your device. Once this is complete, you can then reconnect back to your home network.
