If you are using a RokuTV, you can press the Power button to both power down the RokuTV and stop streaming. (data use stops).

If you are using a Roku device connected to a TV, then you need to press the Home button to stop streaming first.  The Power button on the Roku Remote only controls the power feature of your TV, not the Roku device.

If you do not press the Home button to return to Home screen, then the Roku will continue to stream and use data.

You can enable Bandwidth Saver in your settings that will at least stop streaming automatically after 4hrs.  (Settings/Network/Bandwidth Saver)
