Today, 6/22/22, an ad for the movie Saw popped up featuring a severed hand. My 6 and 2 year old are the main users of our Roku. I’m looking to upgrade my Roku, but am actually going to be purchasing an Apple TV instead. There have been complaints that I can see from last year. Your response that you don’t put up ads that are offensive or disturbing is wilding inaccurate. How would one explain a picture of a severed hand to children?? I can’t even watch the Saw movies and I most definitely don’t want my children to be exposed to them. Fix this issue.
Perhaps you were not aware, but Netflix parental controls allow the restriction of specific titles/programs so that they will not show in either the browsing interface or the preview/screensaver (which I would call a form of advertisement, feel free to disagree). This has existed for at least the last few months; I don't recall when it first appeared. While it's is a long way from allowing control over all advertisement (more difficult, but not impossible), it's at least a step in the right direction.
Same issue here. "Murder House Flip" is being advertised and I can't do anything about it. Definitely switching to Apple TV.

That's at the app level. And other apps have that feature as well. This thread is talking about at the device level. Big difference. I'd like to see Roku implement something, but if the advertisers don't respect it or use it properly, the ads that most in this thread are talking about won't be impacted.

The OP mentioned a specific program about a particularly deplorable human being and not wanting to see it on the home screen. My point was that a similar control to block specific programs does exist on Netflix (which you made no mention of in any of your posts; I do my best to check original sources and read for comprehension). It's not relevant and not worth arguing about whether the Home Screen qualifies as an app or not.
This needs to be fixed. My 6 year old doesn’t need to see “Queen of the **bleep**” on the side of the screen every time he tries to watch Bluey
We should bombard their advertising contact page. Maybe then they will listen. The ads are so inappropriate.
Unacceptable that the advertising on the home screen can’t have parental controls. It’s 2022, Roku has the technology and ability to create this setting. Roku choosing not to allow parents & other users the ability to screen out pornographic advertisements or horror ads for young viewers is ridiculous. After seeing posts requesting this setting for over a year, I have no hopes that Roku will change due to my post so we will gladly get rid of our tv and encourage everyone we know to ditch all Roku products & platforms moving forward.
Same here. Got an ad for “sausage party” today which looks like a raunchy animated film and my four year old wanted to watch it. Making me want to switch to Apple TV.
Apparently this hasn't been fixed yet. Do you really need to advertise "The Sex Lives of College Girls" on the home screen?
