I was having the same problem as other people when turning on and off the Roku, using an Alexa app, but specifically the off-brand versions like onn. and TCL TVs from Walmart.
I’ve seen several people posting about this, and these TVs have an option where you can enable network connectivity in settings.
After I found no luck in the forums, I worked about two hours and figured it out myself. Here’s how you do it:
Settings > System > Advanced System Settings > Control By Mobile Apps > Enabled
A tab will pop up allowing you to QR a link to control the Roku App, but at this point, if you’ve been able to add the TV to your Alexa app but you haven’t been able to control it yet using the app, you will have full control via Alexa to control your Roku by enabling.
Hope this helps!
