Backdrops privacy & security

While I like the idea of being able to add my own images as a screensaver for my Roku TV, I'm concerned with the complete lack of transparency with how my personal images will be stored and used.

In the Backgrounds Terms of Service they cover all the content you can't upload so they're protected, but there's zero language around how our images and data will be used (e.g. selling our data to 3rd party advertisers). I also checked their entire directory and help center content to find nothing.

I can't help but feel as though they're intentionally avoiding transparency. Especially since they recently recently forced all users to accept their new ToS or your TV was bricked.

Did I miss something?

Re: Backdrops privacy & security

Have you seen their entire privacy policy?

https://docs.roku.com/published/userprivacypolicy

There's no specific mention of Backdrops, but there's one sentence that mentions photos:

6. Uploaded Files

Roku collects and may review (for example, for content moderation purposes) any files, including photos, videos or audio files, that you choose to upload or make accessible to the Roku Services.

Anything else, I'd imagine, would be covered by whatever applies to "Roku Services".
