Accessing Saved Shows and Channels

Jump to solution

I just got a Roku TV yesterday, and I have been going in to the free section to select shows and channels.  I have saved many selections.  But I can't figure out how to access my saved list of shows and channels.

It depends what Channel/app you are in when you are saving them.  There is no real "centralized" location for all of them. (no grand list)

If you Saved (add to Save List) in the Roku Channel, then you will need to launch the Roku Channel and scroll/arrow down you should find them under "Save List". (Right under the "Continue Watching" section).

For the most part, each Channel/app has their own Saved Queue, Continue Watching, or Saved List.

If you post back the particular Channel/app you were using while Saving these items, can maybe provide you more detialed info or a screenshot.

Re: "The Conners", was probably offered for free on ABC Channel/app.

If you can remember the title of a show, you can use the "Search" feature available on the Home Screen of the Roku device. This feature will tell you the Channel/app that is hosting the Content and whether free or paid.

Re: the message about "TV or cable provider" needed.  For some users, the Roku device can replace the normal cable or satellite box used with these services. (saves them the rental costs of the boxes from the cable and satellite companies).  They just keep their cable/satellite subscription and use the Roku device to watch these services.  Alternatively, with their cable/satellite plan, they can also install these individual Channels/apps available through cable/satellite as standalone on their devices.  Some Channels/apps will require such a provider for their standalone Channel/app to work (you need to login using your providers credentials).   (https://support.roku.com/article/208756408)

If you have completely switched to streaming, then you can look at cable-alternative streaming services which resemble cable/satellite plans and gives you access to these Channels through the service itself. (https://channelstore.roku.com/browse/cable-alternative#! and https://www.roku.com/blog/cable-alternatives).  With this method, you get the same/almost the same channels you did with cable/satellite.  In order to watch "The Conners", you would launch the cable alternative (ie Hulu), and watch your show on ABC from within Hulu.

Also remember, you can simply plug an antenna into your TV and still watch over-the-air (OTA) content for free.  You can watch "The Conners" on its regularly scheduled time on ABC using the OTA antenna method. (Just using "The Conners" as an example in all the above information).

A lot of this information can be found in the support pages (https://support.roku.com/) and Roku's home page (https://www.roku.com/), but really just a matter of playing around with the Roku device itself, as you are finding out.  Of course, you can always just ask your questions here as well as needed.

Thank you so much for your response!  Last night when I was playing around with the TV, I discovered essentially what you have indicated, and now I have it mostly figured out (I have a list of shows saved in the Roku channel, in Tubi and in Peacock).  The thing that's still confusing me is that on the homepage of my Roku TV there is a section called "Featured Free", but when I select certain shows and try to save them, it appears that they're not really free, but actually require some type of cable provider (for example, I wanted to watch "The Conners" which was in the "Featured Free" section, but couldn't figure out how to do it without having a provider, and at one point I thought I had saved it, but now I can't find a list of shows that I tried to save in the "Featured Free" section).  Any insight would be great, but otherwise I'm all set with my saved lists in those other three apps.  Thanks again!

Thank you so much;  this is really helpful.  We did try an antenna for local channels, but it was so frustrating trying to adjust it for good reception that we're going to avoid that route for now. I might look into a cable-alternative streaming service in the future.  But for now I'm trying to piece together enough programming through free options.  I appreciate your help with navigating this.
