i have had this issue for a VERY long time now. as soon as i turn on my tv, the volume goes up by itself to 100. i have tried putting the volume down with the buttons on the tv and my remote. the tv will fight back, going back to 100 volume. i have tried all the troubleshooting steps, from a factory reset, to unplugging the tv, to updating, to playing with all the buttons, etc. i went months without turning it on because i just gave up and don’t have warranty for it. i turned it on for the first time in a while today and it was working all day. then it started happening again hours later.
i have seen a lot of posts saying something may be wrong with the control board and may need to be replaced. how does one go about that? and is there anything else i can try. also wanted to add no one is pranking me or using any other remotes in the house.
You cannot just simply replace the control board unless you are extremely tech savvy. Your better off just purchasing a new TV. Have you tried contacting TCL since they made the TV?
You can try to narrow down the issue to whether it may be IR interference, a faulty remote, or a faulty TV.
1. Take the batteries out of your RokuTV remote and use the volume buttons on your RokuTV.
2. Take the batteries out of your RokuTV remote and use the official Roku Remote App available in the Play/Apple Stores on a mobile device. (How to install the Roku® mobile app)
3. Take the batteries out of your RokuTV remote and try a universal streaming remote compatible with RokuTV.
4. Take the batteries out of your RokuTV remote and try a Roku Voice Remote paired with your RokuTV. (these will work via wifi rather than depending on IR signals).
5. If the Volume continues to increase with the RokuTV remote disabled (no batteries) , then try blocking off the IR sensor on the RokuTV itself. (either place electrical tape over IR sensor or cardboard, etc along bottom edge of TV frame normally).
If all the above do not work, then could suspect an increased likelihood of an internal hardware issue inside the RokuTV itself.
I'm having the same issue with the volume automatically going to 100 no matter what I try. I have a Hisense Roku TV and also have Roku speakers hooked up. All was going well until a couple of days ago, and I have tried everything. Now my remote control is not even working and with it being a Roku TV, there are no manual buttons to use, just the remote that came with the TV. I have disconnected everything, reset, etc. and nothing has worked. Does anyone have any other ideas? I hate to think I have to purchase another TV set to solve this.
Thanks for the post.
If you remove the batteries from your remote, do you see the same issue occur with the volume increasing?
Please keep us posted what you find out and we will be able to assist you further.
Thanks,
Danny
I have removed the batteries, restarted tv. Volume still goes up automatically and sometimes the remote doesn't work at all. Very frustrating.
Thanks for the post.
Please contact your TV's manufacturer directly to report this issue and request additional support. Each Roku TV manufacturer provides direct support and warranty services for their products running the Roku OS.
If you need a replacement remote for a Roku TV, you would need to contact your TV manufacturer. You can contact Sanyo here: https://support.tclusa.com/televisions or at 1-877-300-8837.
You can also purchase a remote that is compatible with your Roku TV on our Products page.
Thanks,

I have the same problem on my 55P605 TCL Roku TV. Have tried everything, including contacting TCL, trying another remote, factory reset, etc., etc. No solutions have worked. Today, I had a TV repairman come to my house (yes, they still exist). He tried a soft reboot using the buttons on the back of the TV. Of course, the volume was fine until after he left. Then the volume went from 15 to 55, then all the way to 100. He told me that if the problem returns, I would need a new motherboard. I will have to decide if replacing that is worth it. If I do that, I think the cost would be pushing $300. I can get a decent 55" TV for less than $400.
Question--Is the motherboard the same as the "control board", because some people have said that a new control board will solve the problem.
