eARC / CEC issues: TCL 75R655 with Klipsch Cinema 1200 sound bar

Hello, recently purchased a new TCL 75" Roku TV 75R655 and a Dolby Atmos-capable, 5.1.4 powered home theater speaker system by Klipsch, a Cinema 1200.

Connected TV and sound bar via eARC ports. Sound comes through fine, volume control on the Roku raises and lowers volume of the sound bar, Klipsch detected by the eARC port and displayed in the TV settings, so far so good. Problem started with the CEC when turning off the TV using the Roku remote, the Klipsch soundbar would also turn off (as it's supposed to, I guess that's the point of enabling CEC?), but when I turned the TV back on the Klipsch would not turn on anymore, sound bar would just sit there dead, no matter how many times I pushed the volume or power buttons on either the Klipsch remote or the soundbar itself. Only way to resurrect the soundbar was to unplug it from power and plug it back after a few seconds, the soundbar would reboot / restart, stay on to play whatever was playing on the TV - until the next time the TV was turned off, then the soundbar would just die again.

That got old in a hurry. I ended up "solving" the problem by unchecking the "System standby" option under Settings > System > Control other devices (CEC) of the TCL. I left 1-touch play checked. So, basically when I turn off the TV now, the sound bar stays on. Problem solved, although not very elegant - I do wish the sound bar did turn off with the TV instead of staying constantly on, but I will just have to remember to turn it off and on manually from now on, CEC from the TV obviously does not work.

Second problem - not related or at least I don't think so - is that there seems to be no Dolby Atmos sound going to the sound bar from the TV via HDMI4 / eARC, and both TV and sound bar are definitely Atmos capable. The TV is supposed to briefly show a Dolby Atmos logo when playing one of those soundtracks, but that logo never pops up, no matter what the source (I even tried downloading the Dolby channel, besides the usual suspects Netflix, Disney+, Max...) Dolby Vison logo pops up no problem, but Dolby Atmos never does. I tried a variety of different settings in the Audio portion of the TV's settings (Auto, eARC (Klipsh), passthrough, Dolby) but no combination seems to make any difference - I get sound and even surround effects (I assume simulated, or 5.1), but no Dolby Atmos. Haven't tried any other devices connected to the sound bar - don't have any, really.

Anyone with a similar setup and the same issue(s)?

Thanks,

Umberto

I’m having the same issue with adobe atmos not working when I’m on Disney streaming if etc through my Roku.  It works when I stream from my LG tv with the Disney ap but not through Roku.  Did you resolve the issue?

Hi @Jbv8567,

A warm welcome to the Roku Community!

We'd like to see on how we can assist you with this. Would you be so kind as to tell us what Roku device you currently use? Are you using a sound bar? Additionally, is the Adobe Atmos feature only unavailable on the Disney channel?

With more detailed information, we'll be able to assist better.

All the best,
Kash

With regards to Atmos, after trying to troubleshoot this for over a week when Atmos stopped working all of a sudden:

1. Set all Roku audio settings to auto.

2. Do not enable volume/sound leveling: Play any movie in Netflix/Disney+, hit *, make sure sound leveling is not enabled.

3. Perform Roku System Restart.

Turns out wife turned on sound leveling one night because she didn't want to bother me one night-and ATMOS stopped working after that. The 3 steps above did it for me.
