TCL Roku TV - Wifi connection issue

Jump to solution

I started having same issues when I switched to Xfinity from AT&T. I just talked to TCL support and they suggested calling Comcast to have the router setting changed from AES to TKIB and disable MAC filtering. I spent 98 minutes on the line with Comcast. Tech support referred me to "escalation dept" which after 45 said they could not make changes to the router from "their end" (which I have no idea what it means). Then they would switch me to "gateway support dept." But after 15 minutes the agent said he could not get a hold of them and someone from that dept. would call me in about an hour! I am not holding my breath.

Comcast called and they reset the router as described in my previous post. TV works perfectly now.

glad you got yours fixed...this is for others with a tcl roku wifi issue..i have an older 40 inch model 40fs3750

and finally fixed my issue....tv kept restarting and couldn't connect to wifi...

did the solder mod found here  https://community.roku.com/t5/Discussions/TCL-Roku-TV-wifi-issues/td-p/346907/page/11

his fix was for what i think was an insignia brand...but the issue was the same...i just soldered about a foot of thick copper wire directly to the wifi chip/board  labelled as wm03 and current uptimes is 1 day 10 hours without a reboot and wifi connects every time.

seems like a design flaw where they didn't properly ground the wifi chip.
