Streambar freezes, disconnects, reboots

I've been noticing an issue with the Streambar being glitchy in some cases. One is with Netflix where the sound will pop or cut out temporarily. It seems to be random.

The other is when I go to Sound Settings and try to change the sound mode. The last few times I tried to do it, it freezes, gives me a spinning wheel and then it looks like the Streambar shuts down and resets (I get an orange light on the front of the soundbar). Any ideas why it's so glitchy?

Re: Streambar freezes, disconnects, reboots

I am having the exact same issue, and have read others with the streambar also having this issue.  It freezes, shuts down, and then reboots.  Only had the streambar for about a month, and it has done this at least 3 times.  Usually happens when streaming a service like Paramount +, or Sling.  None of my other Rokus do this - just the streambar.  I am wondering if I need to return it.

Re: Streambar freezes, disconnects, reboots

@geonobbe

Thanks for the post.

Can you please provide us the following information:
-Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-does this issue occur on a specific channel? if so, what channel and what version/build is the channel (this can be found be selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing

Once we have this information, we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate Roku team to investigate further.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Streambar freezes, disconnects, reboots

Danny,

Seriously?  I will provide most of the info you requested (below), but since I already provided the SN (twice), which in turn gives you the model, etc., it is obvious, one can only assume you are not reading all these posts and/or not taking this issue seriously.  Many of us have taken the time to alert you to this issue.  There are countless more who will not take the time, but most likely experiencing the same issue.

You have an issue with these streambars.  And, as many have posted, it is unique to these streambars.  So, why are you not looking at what you have done differently with the streambar versus all your other versions of streaming devices – either different software or hardware (that is where I would start)?

Also, many have posted what they were watching when the event happened, also answering one of your questions.  This string is only one of the strings citing the issue – there are other strings too!

So, I will answer most of your questions.  But, if you think I will sit there with remote in hand waiting ready to pull the trigger to get your last request, consider this an unreasonable request.  Besides, as noted (by me and many others), when the event happens, it freezes, shuts down and reboots.  I doubt there would be enough time to grab the remote and push buttons 10 times to get what you are asking for.

Here you go (device info):

Model:  9102R – Roku Streambar

serial number:  YL0083669557

device ID:  2A1188669557

software OS/version:  10.5.0  build 4201-95

One of the channels this happened on:

Sling Channel

Version:  8.11

Build:  1669

Tracker ID (your last request) – as mentioned, this is not going to happen (as noted, not sure I could even if I wanted to) … since I am not sure you are taking this issue seriously anyway, and if this is what it takes, I would much rather return this streambar and start over.
