Amazon had a decent sale on the Roku Streambar , and I'd been looking for a sound bar. But now I wish I hadn't bothered. For something that's supposed to give you better control of the sound, it does no such thing. The volume settings are pointless. Spoken dialogue and narration is way too loud, while music and background sounds are too soft to hear
Example: Watching Kennedy Center Honors tonight, I have played with the speech, bass, and other volume settings, and nothing helps. When presenters are speaking, the volume is at 27, and it's still louder than I'd usually listen to it. But when the musicians perform, I have to turn the volume to 37, and it's still not actually loud enough. The best part is that, when the narrator speaks between performances, the speech at volume 37 is absolutely blasting.
I'm very much ready to return the unit and get another brand sound bar. I've done dozens of searches on Google, DuckDuckGo, and others, and I find it unbelievable that I'm the only one having this problem.
