Software problems Version 14.1.4 Build 7709

Although the post from 14 Dec 2024, "No sound when in menus on Roku TV", was marked as solved, it would appear that this problem is specific to the software and not to any one equipment type. I had hoped that someone would have responded to my post in that thread since I did a bit of testing limited to my basic expertise, since I have owned previous ROKU devices and TCL ROKU TVs. It is a shame that I have to go to my Netflix channel to restore my menu sounds when they disappear.

Re: Software problems Version 14.1.4 Build 7709

Hi @olddog19471,

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

We want to investigate your Roku TV problem further. Can you please provide the following information?

  • Do you have any other device/s connected to your TV? (e.g., speakers and other sound systems)
  • Could you elaborate more about the troubleshooting steps you have taken so far?

Here are some steps you can try to help you troubleshoot your TV:

  • Reboot your Roku TV under Settings > System > Power > System restart
  • Settings > Audio > Menu volume - try to adjust the volume and see if you can hear any sound.

Please keep us posted on what you find out.

Kind regards,
The Roku Community Team

Re: Software problems Version 14.1.4 Build 7709

As I had posted in Roku TV, discussions, "No sound when in menus on Roku TV"   a week ago;

(I am also having the same problems with my TCL 43s451 with the current software 14.1.4 build 7709. Before trying to tell me to contact my TV provider, I already have, and their solution is to do a factory reset and/or do a power drain. They also advised me that the unit could still be returned as defective. This unit was a replacement for a TCL 43s425 that I have had since 2018 that finally failed. I had returned a previous 43s451 a week ago as defective for the same reason.

I cannot blame the provider because this is specifically a software problem that, as listed in this post, applies to various equipment providers, but with the same software version.

I have discovered 2 things so far doing my own testing: (1) if I go to another theme pack other than the default, the volume is higher. (2) when the menu sounds disappear randomly, I have found that by going to the Netflix channel and then returning to the home screen the menu sounds will return.

It is a shame that it appears that this only with Netflix for me since I have been forced to cancel them as of the end of the month.

I hope that this will help some of you that are having the same problem, regardless of your equipment provider. )
