Driving me crazy has never done this before I was watching and all of a sudden it started dimming and flashing but the screen was still on more like the backlight was getting brighter then dimming and then back to bright and then dimming. I've tried about everything even restarting it and factory resetting it.
Thanks for the notes here. If you are experiencing an issue with your TV's display panel flickering, or seeing significant fluctuation in brightness output levels, this is likely related to a hardware issue with the panel and is something that the TV manufacturer will need to help address. You'll want to contact support for your Roku TV manufacturer to report the issue and request additional assistance. Each Roku Tv manufacturer provides direct support and warranty services for their products. I have had the same problem with our 55S405TDAA constantly dimming and then returning to normal - every few seconds now. It cannot be a hw board in the TV because it does not flicker using our blue ray player on any of the HDMI inputs. It has to be a roku app issue. How can i fix this? The TV is less than 3 years old.
When you are watching tv Click on the start in Your remote and go to picture settings and turn off the automatic dim setting!
Sharp Rokus are junk! My screen started dimming shortly after the warranty expired. Go figure! Npckrr's solution doesn't work on my TV which is now just a RADIO!
Thanks for the post.
This may be a hardware issue that you are experiencing. Have you tried contacting Sharp support yet to inquire further? I'd suggest starting there to see what options or suggestions they can provide. Each Roku TV manufacturer provides direct support for their products running the Roku OS.
You can reach them here: http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ContactUs.aspx or at 1-888-935-8880.

You can’t fix it from the menu- settings screen. Open/start TV, then press the * which brings up a menu. Choose Picture Settings, Then Picture Mode. Make sure it’s not on Low Power!
It may also help to turn Dynamic Contrast off. That cured a similar issue I was having with my Sharp set. use the "*" button and set the picture to turn Dynamic Contrast off.
